Meet John Doe
1941 2 hours 3 minAnn Mitchell, a newspaper columnist, is laid off. In a bid to make a splash in her final column, she fabricates a letter from a fictional "John Doe," a disillusioned everyman who threatens to commit suicide on Christmas Eve in protest against societal injustices and the lack of compassion in the world. As Ann and the newspaper build the "John Doe" movement, it evolves into a nationwide phenomenon.
