1974 1 hour 20 minThe film begins with staged “eyewitness accounts” of UFO sightings before focusing on electronics expert Alan Grimes, who intercepts strange signals from a rural area. With psychic Vivian and two university colleagues, he traces the source to a lake concealing alien beings—formless energy trapped for a thousand years by human fear. They reveal Alan can free them only by surrendering his life, becoming the fourth human in history to “ascend.” Resigned, he rapidly ages, breaks free of his friend Dan’s attempts to stop him, and dies in the water. Dan pulls his skeletal remains to shore as the alien energy escapes into space, and the screen closes with a passage from Revelation 5:9.
